Every parents' wish for a daughter is to marry someone who will take good care of their daughter. During our parent's time, what is the criteria for an ideal son-in-law? Is it
A. rich, handsome, same religion, older than daughter
B. old rich grandpa with many mistresses
C. somone who flatter the parents
D. someone who can make her happy
How many parents nowadays can say that as long as my daughter is happy with the guy, we won't object? Maybe only a handful. Parents will always have something against the guy because they are protective over their daughters. They want their daughter to have a perfect and happy marriage. They are afraid if their daughter choose a particular guy, she might regret it because he is not good enough for her or she deserves better. They expect their daughters to listen to them because they are more experienced, they have gone through it... They don't want us to make the same mistakes..
So, where do we as daughters draw the line? Who amongst us (daughters) dare to say, "Look, I really trust and love this guy and I am sure of my choice. I am going to marry him no matter what!" Do we choose love over family? Do we honour our parents or do we trust in our own judgement? Are we willing to take the chance and face its' consequences? Do we learn from our mistakes then or is it too late?
I for one seriously don't know...

OOooo... talking bout' yourself huh?
haha wait a minute, are u referring me as the mother or the daughter? ;)
It's the same with all the cultures. You not only marry the wife/husband, you marry in their family as well. So it has to cover all bases. Sad but it's the truth.
