Raya Hols Part II

I've always liked jungle trekking with the exception of one thing... LEECHES!!! Seriously hate those blood suckers!! And there were lots of them when I went jungle trekking for Rafflesia in Gopeng... Sucky bucky man!
First stop, we got to see stick insect.. Can you spot it?

Can you see the 'sticky' fella?

It looks something like this laa...

Along the way, we met lots of blood suckers and other cool plants..

This is a wild ginger flower.. Pretty eh? :)

This is called 'Daun Tapak Hantu' where they get the idea from??

Meet Mr. Millipede :)

Rajah Brookes

Freezing cold river water.. Brrrr

After an hour of hiking on flat ground and up the hill we finally arrived at the place and this is what we saw..

Behold! The Bunga Rafflesia :)

This is a different kind of species, so it's smaller in size and does not stink at all.. Amazing eh?!

All in all I had a really good time and it was a great experience for me! Now I can say "Been there, done that!" :)

Raya Hols Part I

This Raya hols was pretty cool.. Although I didn't get to go overseas, unlike some lucky devil ;), but I still had fun! My family is kinda psycho a bit.. You know, when you are young, you go for adventurous trips right? Apparently in my family, if you fall into the 'retiring age' group, it's time to be adventurous! Anyway, this year we went to Gopeng.. Yea, you'll be wondering "What the heck is there in Gopeng that is so exciting??!!" Choon Seng commented I like to go to small, God forsaken places in Perak.. hehe

Rumah Rehat Adeline

So, this place called "Rumah Rehat Adeline" is a pretty good concept. The place is not a 5 star resort or 4 or 3 or 2... Maybe 1 star.. I wouldn't know how to grade a resort anyway. The place is filled with small wooden houses like the orang asli ones. So, basically a house with 2 ruang, one for sleeping and another for... lepaking? At least the house is equipped with light and fan. However, the toilet is a few meters away but it's quite clean and there's potty, not just a HOLE in the ground! The place not that kuno laa.. If you prefer camping, there's also a camping ground and tents are provided..

Rumah Dokong

Reading and sleeping in a hammock needs balancing skill

One thing I have to praise is the food!! It's GOOD SHITZ!!! There were 8-10 dishes each meal and it's mostly chinese food, the only thing is it's also catered for Malays :) So, it's PORK-FREE but it's still good food! yum yum yum

This is the Wonder Woman who did all the yummy cooking, Ms Adeline

There are a few activities provided. The most common ones are white water rafting, caving, jungle trekking and night jungle trekking. I defnitely had to try the white water rafting!! And I didn't regret it! They have a grading system to categorize the river rafting diffculty level. So, when we went, Sungai Kampar was grade 2-3 because it was after a heavy downpour. The super scary one is Sungai Padas in Sabah, grade 5-6.. I don't think I have the courage to go for that one. Even this river was scary enough.. hehe but it was an experience! Drank lots of river water and got flung overboard once.. had a few bruises and sratches here and there.. all in the name of FUN! :)

Before the plunge

Partially submerged by river water

Fully submerged plus being rehydrated with river water

Survivors!! hehe
